~~~Our Family~~~
Be Careful What You Wish For.................you just might get TRIPLETS!!
AH!!!!!!!!!!!! What a shocker!! We went in for our ultrasound today....only at 6 weeks along so far, but my doctor wanted to check to see how many babies I'm pregnant with. The appointment started with the ultrasound technician(UT) saying we had just one. Austin and I were wrapping our minds around the idea of just one and looking at each other sweetly. Then the UT was measuring that baby....talking about how she could see it's heartbeat and everything....and we were talking about it for about 5 minutes. Then...all of a sudden the UT lady said..."wait a second!" She panned the probe over only to discover ANOTHER black hole with a baby inside! It was another baby!! Austin and I were in complete shock! FRATERNAL TWINS?! Quickly, we were told that there's a small disclaimer with this baby, though.....it's very small in comparison to the other baby with the heartbeat showing. This baby we were NOT able to pick up a heartbeat and weren't sure if it was going to eventually not live. There is a small chance though that it would live and survive just fine...it's just not very likely she said. After hearing that....we were back to grasping the idea of just one baby...but "possibly" two if that other baby made it through. Then....again, to our amazement....the UT lady says...."Actually....hang on a second here......" She panned the probe back over the other baby we saw 1st. She said, "Oh my gosh, there are TWO babies inside this one sac we looked at earlier!!" WHAT???! That means they were "IDENTICAL TWINS"!! That means....that most definitely that embryo split after being implanted! WOAH! Now we have triplets?? Are you kidding me?? Talk about shock. Austin and I looked at each other in disbelief. I was NOT predicting that one! Talk about finally getting our BIG family we always wanted!! ;-) WOW.....so at this point....we looked at baby #3.....it was directly on top of the baby #1 which is why it wasn't noticed at 1st.....we were unable to find a heartbeat with this one too, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything! The UT said that it's probably just because the babies are literally right on top of each other so it was hard to tell them apart. The UT reassured us that that identical twin MOST LIKELY has a strong heartbeat as well, it's just too early to tell. So......in a nutshell.....at the moment....I have TRIPLETS. There's a possibility we might lose one :-( but the identical twins are almost a for sure thing! ;-) We're SO overwhelmed with excitement...we couldn't be happier. We're just praying we'll be able to manage whatever situation or responsibility Heavenly Father choses to give us! We are SO excited about this pregnancy....hoping those babies can find room somewhere to grow in my tiny torso! I'm only 5 foot 4 and I have NO clue where I'm gonna fit 2 babies...let alone 3!!! AH! I'm having another ultrasound next week most likely....and I'll update everyone on the status of the poor baby #2 we found that was so small and lacking in the developmenting area....and also we'll let you know how many heartbeats we have and all that good stuff. Whew! I never thought in my wildest dreams I'd be making this blog post right now. WOW. Can you believe it?? An entire year of sacrifice and heartache over our infertility….and now we get the privilege of being blessed with more than one baby. We can’t wait to find out their genders…in about 2 months from now…but we’re SO excited about this new journey in our lives! Thanks a TON to everyone for their prayers and thoughts for us. We feel SO blessed to have such a fantastic support system around us right now! More updates to come…as this pregnancy will be most definitely a LOT different than my last! Right now....we just need to take a second and just breathe........haha, everything's going to work out just fine! ;-)
That's baby #2 we found second on the left side- notice it's very small. Then on the right....baby #1 and baby #3!
It's small, but it's there! And 6 weeks, 1 day is still early to see a heartbeat, so it has plenty of time to catch on up to its' siblings!
Wow, what a blessing!
Thanks for the comment Katie. You're so sweet. And I had to tell you I got a laugh this morning when my emailed quote of the day was this...
"What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to WHAT LIVES WITHIN US."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Terribly appropriate don'cha think? hehe
Maybe that's why Kaden is supposed to be older when you got pregnant this time. Can you imagine if he were 8 months old and having triplets? Seriously, congratulations and you guys deserve it. That is crazy exciting. So glad this worked out, and worked so well!
